FLORAL POLICY
Our cemetery guidelines have been developed to ensure peace and respect for all.
Owensboro Memorial Gardens’ policies are designed to assist in creating and maintaining a cemetery of surpassing beauty, tranquility, and honor as a memorial to those loved ones entrusted to our care.
Thank you for helping us achieve this worthy purpose by observing the following policies of our cemetery.
Babyland Policies
- Upon request, the cemetery will provide one complimentary 36” shepherd’s hook for each infant.
- 1-2 items may be placed directly on the memorial.
- No decorations or personal items may be placed on the ground. These items will be discarded.
- Glass and ceramic items of any sort, other breakable materials, and other similar objects are not permitted on the memorial.
- No food items may be left on the memorial.
Burial with Flush Garden Bronze Memorial Policies
- Fresh floral arrangements honoring a recent burial will be removed as they have become wilted and unsightly, typically 3 days following a burial.
- The cemetery is not responsible for any items left in the cemetery, including floral arrangements or decorations placed in a vase.
Burial with Flush Garden Bronze Memorials
During the period of March 15th – October 31st
- Potted plants, stands, glass items of any sort, ceramic figurines, other breakable material, wire hooks, rocks, urns, and other similar objects are not permitted on the memorial or in the ground around the memorial. Visitors to our cemetery could be injured or our cemetery personnel. Surrounding memorials and equipment could be damaged.
- All flowers and decorations must be placed in a permanently installed cemetery-approved vase. The cemetery will dispose of any unsightly or out-of-season items.
- All landscaping will be carried out by our cemetery grounds team.
- One shepherd’s hook (no taller than 36”) may be placed in the ground directly against the granite base of the memorial.
- Non-bronze personal memorials are not permitted and will be removed and discarded.
Burial with Flush Garden Bronze Memorials
During the period of November 1st – February 28th
- Fresh flowers and artificial arrangements, decorations, and personal items may be placed on the ground during this season. Grave blankets and wreaths on stands are also permitted. These items should be removed by the family before February 28th. If an item should become unsightly, cemetery personnel will remove the item. Any remaining items will be discarded during the two-week clean-up period (March 1st – March 14th) before the season begins.
Interior and Exterior Mausoleum and Niche Policies
- Fresh floral arrangements honoring a recent entombment or ennichement will be placed at the nearest proximity and be removed as they have become wilted and unsightly, typically 3 days following a service.
- The cemetery is not responsible for any items left in the cemetery.
- Personal items or other decorations may not be attached to the crypt or niche front.
- Seasonal decorations or personal items must not be so large that it overlaps any other crypt or niche front.
For Interior Mausoleum and Niche
- Our cemetery will provide and place a complementary hook or any other interior crypt upon request.
- Artificial flowers or wreaths may be placed on the provided hook. Please ensure any wreath or floral arrangement hung on a hook does not encroach on other crypt or niche fronts.
- Decorations or floral arrangements left on the floor in the mausoleum will be discarded.
For Exterior Mausoleum and Niche
- Flowers must be placed in a permanently installed cemetery-approved vase for crypts.
- Personal items or decorations may not be left on the ground. These items will be discarded.
